ECC Celebrates Its 65th Year in Business

Lincoln, Nebraska — It's officially the new year as we enter into 2023. This year marks a special achievement and milestone in ECC's history. 2023 is our 65th year in business since we first began as Electronic Equipment Supply Company in 1958 in Lincoln, NE.

What an incredible journey this has been. We're humbled and grateful to be able to continue serving our clients impactful technology experiences for over six decades.

"As we enter our 65^th year in business, I think it would be appropriate to pay our respects to those who helped get us here," said current president, Kyle Habben. "Thank you to Adam Karavas for founding the company and sitting at its helm for 58 years. Thank you to our thousands of clients, partners, and vendors who have entrusted us with their business over the years. And finally, we’d like to thank all of our former and current employees for making ECC what it is today. An organization, no matter the design, is only as good as the people who are a part of it. It’s an honor to lead this company and its amazing people as we begin the next 65."

The technology industry never stays stagnant, and the road our firm has taken to get to where we are today has required persistent adaptability. Our founder, Adam Karavas, shared a vision one summer night in 1958 with one of the owners of his then-employing company, TV Service Company, where they both saw an opportunity to provide Master Antenna (MATV) systems for multiple dwelling facilities. From this vision, our company's roots sprung into reality.

Adam pioneered our firm through a series of technological evolutions as our foundation was built and advanced from MATV systems to electronic ordering systems to communication, life safety, and professional sound solutions. We became known as Electronic Contracting Company in 1978 and steadily expanded throughout the years. Before announcing his retirement, Adam mentored our current president, Kyle Habben, who has served as our president for the last five years continuing to grow our organization.

In 2022, we found ourselves at the next chapter in our firm's history, and we officially rebranded to ECC. After 65 years, we've grown to become one of the top systems integrators in the country specializing in commercial Audio/Visual/Lighting, Communication, Electronic Security, Fire Safety, Healthcare, and Managed Technology Services. We still call Lincoln, NE home where we're headquartered to this day, and we've expanded our operations to Omaha, NE; Wichita, KS; Kansas City, MO; and Springfield, MO.

To all of our clients, current and former employees, our vendor partners, and to the communities we've come to call home between our five office locations, thank you.
