The Engineering Manager ensures that the day-to-day activities of the engineering and drafting staff, provides engineering services and customer support which result in high levels of productivity of individuals. The engineering supervisor provides sales representatives and the engineering staff with design and design support to meet the customer’s applications.

Design services are provided to customers at company established rates in a timely manner with a high degree of quality and follow Technical Services Standards. Services are to include system descriptions, equipment selection and research, CAD drawings, custom product design and system integration. Manage the planning and scheduling of projects to provide an adequate workload to keep all staff working at the established chargeability target.
All information and assistance provided to installation technicians is performed in a timely manner with a high degree of accuracy and follow the Technical Services Standards. This information and assistance include all necessary drawings and details to insure efficient and profitable project installations, and assistance with systems checkout and training requirements. Manage staffing hours as to ensure appropriate staffing levels and appropriate management of overtime.
Products recommended consistently meet the application requirement and are compatible with other products within the system design.
Detailed project plans and specifications, sufficient to submit for competitive bids, are prepared consistent with the architectural, construction, general contractor, or consultant requirements of the project(s).
Drawings and submittals are regularly reviewed for accuracy, detail, and quality.
Able to complete engineering design on select smaller scope projects (25 hours or less).
Joint customer sales call assistance, support, and technical presentations are provided for large and high-end projects.
Advanced technical support is provided for customer related system operational issues.
Sales department prepared equipment lists, system descriptions, and scopes of work for proposed systems are reviewed for completeness, compatibility, and suitability for intended purpose on a timely basis and with a high degree of quality.
Consultation is provided to sales staff as to equipment recommendations to result in supportable customer equipment recommendations.
The compilation of quantities of equipment and materials from owner/consultant prepared plans and specifications are performed timely and accurately when providing assistance in the preparation of bid responses.
Accurately interprets consultant prepared plans and specifications resulting in the preparation of accurate project labor estimates and identifies associated project risks.
Interview and hire personnel, or dismiss personnel, as required to maintain the staff size necessary to fulfill contracted obligation profitability, in conjunction with Human Resources and its department’s policies and procedures.
Maintain a network of qualified temporary and subcontractor technical personnel to fill short-term staffing needs effectively.
Maintain the minimum staff necessary to fulfill obligations and profitability, while maintaining a chargeability rate of at least 70% for all Drafting and Engineering staff.
Develop annual, clearly defined and communicated department and individual goals in support of the operational business plan and company goals that are specific, measurable, realistic and time-oriented; track, monitor and validate as per company-defined policy and procedure.
Performance reviews of personnel are completed timely and according to company policies.
Promote and drive team collaboration.
Educational background should consist of formal technical training.
5 to 7 years of industry experience.
Experience managing teams of 10+.
Advanced knowledge and experience in electronic system design.
Ability to effectively train others on work standards and processes.
CTS or equivalent work experience.
