The General Foreman serves as the subject matter expert and is primarily responsible for the accurate and efficient installation of simple to complex electronic systems. The General Foreman will provide oversight of ECC jobs and will train, provide direction to, advise, and assist Installation Technicians and Subcontractors from beginning to end, as to ensure high quality work and maximum customer service. 


Primary Responsibilities

1. Site-Conditions/Closeout

  •  Performs initial site assessment/condition analysis and communicates findings to the Project Manager and TSM.

  • Determines wire paths and provides accurate instruction to the Installer(s).

  • Tests all equipment upon termination to ensure performance of system.

  • Works in conjunction with Project Manager to ensure complete closeout and turnover of the job to the client.

  • Performs job closing checks at the end of each job to ensure cleanliness and readiness.

  • Interacts professionally and tactfully with other trades on job-sites. 

  • Ability to train and oversee subcontractors on multiple projects.

2. Equipment Installation

  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of industry wiring and installation standards and practices.

  • Installs system racks and perform on-site staging of equipment delivered.

  • Properly labels equipment and field cabling in accordance with Technical Standards.

  • Performs installation tasks such as cable placement and termination.

  • Maintains a debris-free workspace.

  • Configures PC’s onto network and establishes connections for remote diagnostics.

  • Configures electronic systems IP addresses, V-LANs, control system diagnostic programs, and DSP systems operation. 

  • Provides oversight and guidance of the work performed by Installation Technicians.

3. Customer Service

  • Serves as the face of the organization to best represent the ECC brand and reputation; properly greets and interacts with customers in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner. 

  • Presents self in a professional manner and positively represents the company image.

  • Maintain functional understanding of the installed systems and clearly articulates that understanding to internal and external client. 

4. Internal Communication

  • Utilizes Project Manager as the primary communication conduit for technical questions, verifications, and issue reporting.

  • Completes all required documentation accurately and within expected timeframes. This includes but may not be limited to As-Builts, and timekeeping. 

  • Recognizes change order opportunities and job-related issues.

  • Be solution-focused by providing communication to Project Manager with potential resolution. 

  • Provide “end-of-day” job status update to the assigned Project Manager prior to leaving each day.

  • Ensures job completion prior to reporting to TSM.

5. Technical Standards

  • Ensures consistent adherence to company established technical service standards, thereby insuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.

  • Maintains proper tools, materials and test equipment to sustain the highest technical quality possible within the constraints of strong financial management.

  • Maintains accurate on-site installation supplies and materials inventory levels to ensure adequate availability for installations.

6. Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs work in adherence to OSHA and company safety policies and procedures as they are introduced to the Company; promptly report unsafe work conditions to supervisor.

  • Ensures proper PPE is worn based upon working conditions.

  • Cultivates positive working relationships within and across departments.

  • Engages in behaviors that foster a healthy work environment and company culture.

  • Presents self in a professional manner and appropriately represent the Company image.

  • Models, adheres to and holds assigned staff accountable to company-issued policies, procedures, core values, behavioral or other standards as prescribed by the Company.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Ability 

  • Ability to read, interpret, understand, and act upon general construction documentation including blueprints, schematics, and Construction Master Format.
  • Ability to read, understand, and act upon a written Scope of Work or Work Narrative.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in system installation. 
  • Ability to effectively train others on work standards and processes. 
  • Advanced knowledge of hand and power tool usage and safety.
  • Advanced understanding of mounting and rigging concepts.
  • Solid understanding of installation methods that apply to plumb, level, and square.  
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency of programs such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and CMR.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively handle stressful situations.
  • Capable of working independently, without direct supervision or guidance, as well as in a team environment.
  • Must be solution-focused, forward-thinking and organized. 
  • Must be personable, possess adequate communication, customer service and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal and external team members.
  • Aptitude and desire to learn new technologies as they are introduced to the Company.
  • Highly adaptable to change.

  • Ability to work long hours, evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as required by the job.

Required Education and/or Work Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • OSHA 30 within 180 days of hire.
  • 5+ years of experience installing and troubleshooting FA systems.
  • 5+ years in a customer-facing, customer service role.
  • Proficiency with construction techniques.
  • Experience with ticketing systems.

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience

  • Associates Degree or equivalent work experience. 
  • Manufacturer product training relevant to ECC offering.
  • CTS-I or equivalent work experience.

Motor Vehicle Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proof of vehicle insurance is required for those who may drive a personal vehicle for business.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, lift, push and/or pull, frequently. 
  • Ability to perform activities such as operate power tools, equipment including lifts, scaffolding.
  • Ability to work with hazards and a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, etc.
