St. Paul Catholic Student Center

St. Paul Catholic Student Center

St. Paul Catholic Student Center is a university parish at Wichita State University and a home away from home for Catholic and non-Catholic students alike. They strive to help these young adults in college to come to a fuller understanding of what it means to be fully human, and therefore, to be fully alive. In order to accomplish this, they offer college students opportunities for fellowship, prayer, intellectual formation, and service.

The patron of their Newman Center is Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman. Blessed Newman had the idea of establishing Catholic centers at the great secular universities.

In 1883, Catholics together formed a club that sought intellectual growth in the faith and social companionship. Ten years later, a former member of this club established a similar club at the University of Pennsylvania. This club was called the Newman Club, after Cardinal John Newman.
