BUILDING THE BROADCAST INFRASTRUCTURE FOR A NEW ERA OF MISSOURI STATE FOOTBALL
As Missouri State University prepared to move its football program to Conference USA in 2025, Robert W. Plaster Stadium required a significant broadcast infrastructure upgrade to support the technical demands of network television production. The university selected ECC to serve as the prime integrator to deliver their new Broadcast Distribution System (BDS) designed by Anthony James Partners (AJP).
The system connects broadcast sources throughout the stadium to three weatherized, climate-controlled truck-dock racks and the press box. 12 technical junction boxes provide connection points for fiber, analog audio, and SMPTE cabling, while additional infrastructure supports the university’s DV Sport Replay Systems, including four goal-line cameras, two additional camera positions, and feeds throughout the press box.
Home to the Bears, Missouri State University's Robert W. Plaster Stadium is a concrete stadium that was built in 1941 and renovated and expanded in 1991. The ECC Team helped transition the facility into a modern broadcast environment, working through the challenges of establishing pathways within the existing concrete structure to bring Bears football to the national stage. With the first nationally televised Missouri State University home football game scheduled four months after the project's start date, our team collaborated closely with the university's stakeholders and key trade partners to complete the project within an accelerated schedule.
The new Broadcast Distribution System encompasses 77,000 linear feet of cabling, over 1,400 fiber terminations, and approximately 1,700 solder connections to support national game broadcasts through networks including CBS and ESPN. This expansive new infrastructure required an extensive conduit and cable pathway system to support it.
The upgraded broadcast infrastructure brings modern sports production connectivity, instant replay, and national television broadcasts to Plaster Stadium, empowering the Missouri State Bears as it enters a new chapter.
