Newman University is a Catholic university located on a 61-acre campus in southwest Wichita that was founded in 1933 for the purpose of empowering graduates to transform society. Its origins trace back to the village of Acuto, Italy, where in 1834 Maria De Mattias founded the order of religious women that would eventually become the university’s sponsoring congregation, the Adorers of the Blood of Christ (ASC). Newman University's campus features five core learning facilities and two activity spaces to serve the needs of their students.
In 2015, Newman University needed a local and established AV Integrator to implement new AV Systems at the Bishop Gerber Science Center that was being built, and to upgrade AV Systems at Eck Hall that was being renovated. This project was phased into two parts in alignment with the overall construction schedules, requiring close collaboration between the university and project teams for efficient implementation. The AV Systems between both buildings spanned across various spaces from active learning rooms, classrooms, collaboration spaces, conference rooms, labs, and simulation rooms.
The AV Systems at the Bishop Gerber Science Center and Eck Hall were designed to foster an active learning, collaborative environment that empowers students to learn effortlessly. Most spaces are equipped with a Crestron Touch Panel at each teaching station that's fully integrated for complete AV control and able to connect to multiple sources with ease. Larger learning spaces offer more comprehensive control extending to lighting, shades, and PTZ cameras. Teachers are able to seamlessly utilize AV technology for their lectures and lessons, and Crestron AirMedia implemented in each space allows students to wirelessly share content with the class to the main screens.
Learning spaces with audio needs utilize a combination of Audix In-Ceiling Microphones and Shure Wireless Microphones paired with QSC In-Ceiling Loudspeakers powered by Extron Power Amplifiers. The audio is routed and processed through BSS or Biamp Digital Signal Processors. The large lab spaces display content through Epson Full-HD, 3LCD Video Projectors with the ability to select 'Single Source Mode' or 'Dual Source Mode' from the Crestron Touch Panel for seamless usability. Other labs and classrooms showcase content through Full-HD, LED Video Displays or Eiki 3LCD, HLD LED Video Projectors to best fit each space. Rooms requiring Remote Learning capabilities operate through Vaddio Full-HD PTZ Cameras to seamlessly share classes.
Listen Technologies Assistive Listening is available portably to both buildings for easy accessibility. The building-wide AV Systems at the Bishop Gerber Science Center and Eck Hall are powered by 4K Matrix Switchers for effective AV distribution and management.

Following the partnership ECC and Newman University formed through the Bishop Gerber Science Center and Eck Hall projects, our firm continued serving as the university's AV Integrator outfitting multiple facilities with state-of-the-art technology. The Dugan Library and Campus Center is a 56,000 square-foot complex that houses the university library, study and gathering areas, classrooms, a bookstore, a café, a convenience store, a student center, computer labs, an alumni lounge and a conference center.
ECC transformed the lobby of the Dugan Library and Campus Center with a 2x2 4K, UHD Planar Video Wall that creates an impactful experience as soon as you walk into the building. The facility's conference rooms are equipped with Crestron Video Conferencing Smart Soundbars integrated into Newline Interactive Video Displays with built-in wireless sharing, all controlled through Crestron Wall-Mounted Presentation Controllers. The Sacred Grounds Coffee & Cafe space communicates menu items via 4K, UHD Planar Digital Signage Video Displays.

ECC also provided lab and classroom AV updates at the De Mattias Fine Arts Center covering four different spaces to further modernize the campus' facilities. The center includes remote learning spaces that are outfitted with 4K AV Distribution and Management, Audix In-Ceiling Microphones, BSS Digital Signal Processors, Crestron AV Control, Extron Power Amplifiers, QSC In-Ceiling Loudspeakers, Shure Wireless Microphones, Vaddio PTZ Cameras, and 4K UHD LED Planar Video Displays. Newman University's Dodge Campus is able to remotely connect to this space, creating a learning bridge between the two campuses. Our team also nearly identically mirrored this space setup at the Dodge Campus, implementing upgraded AV in their remote learning space to maintain a stable, impactful connection from campus to campus.
Newman University's technology modernization was extended to Sacred Heart Hall, where ECC upgraded AV in various classrooms to continue empowering their student learning through collaborative technology. Across all of these facilities, Newman University offers their students a connected, seamless learning environment that helps elevate their experience.
ECC has completed over 20,000+ projects over the course of our firm's history after over 65 years in business. We've connected organizations throughout the Midwest to better technology experiences in corporate, correctional, education, government, healthcare, industrial, and house of worship facilities.
