AtlasIED Launches Wearable Panic Button for Rapid Emergency Response

AtlasIED has launched a powerful new addition to its IPX ecosystem: the Rapid Alert wearable panic button system, designed to provide staff in education, healthcare, and commercial environments with a fast and discreet way to trigger emergency responses. At the center of the system is the IP-PB, a lightweight panic button worn on a lanyard that utilizes Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.0 Ultra Wide Band technology to wirelessly communicate with the IP-RC BLE-controlled relay board that connects seamlessly to AtlasIED’s IPX IP Endpoints.
The device is remarkably intuitive—users double-press the button to trigger one relay or press it six or more times to initiate an automatic lockdown event that immediately notifies responders and stakeholders. These actions automatically send signals to activate emergency protocols through systems like InformaCast or Revolution, eliminating delays and human error during high-stress situations. Despite its small size, the IP‑PB can withstand harsh conditions by design, boasting an IP67 rating and offering up to three years of battery life thanks to its lithium-ion battery. The IP‑RC BLE-controlled relay board integrates directly with IPX Series control boards and features two configurable relay closures, allowing users to trigger specific actions across the network. This functionality enables the initiation of tailored notifications for various emergencies.
One of Rapid Alert’s greatest strengths is its seamless integration with AtlasIED’s existing IPX IP platform, enabling facilities to expand their emergency communication capabilities without requiring infrastructure overhauls. It also supports regulatory requirements such as Alyssa’s Law, making it a practical choice for schools aiming to meet evolving safety standards.
