Axis Communications, the industry leader in video surveillance, has unveiled a sweeping series of new additions to its portfolio that signal a bold step forward in intelligent, integrated security. The latest lineup includes a bispectral PTZ camera combining thermal and visual imaging, a family of AI-powered bullet cameras, two next-generation radars with expansive fields of detection, and a standalone air quality sensor with two-way audio. Together, these innovations reflect Axis's ongoing commitment to delivering smarter, more connected solutions that improve situational awareness and enhance operations across increasingly complex environments.
At the heart of several new additions is the ARTPEC-9 system-on-chip, which powers advanced analytics and secure edge processing across the new cameras and radars. The Q6411-LE Bispectral PTZ Camera is perhaps the most versatile of the new releases, functioning as a two-in-one device that pairs a 7mm QVGA thermal camera for reliable 24/7 detection in any weather or lighting condition with a light-sensitive 2MP visual PTZ camera featuring 31x optical zoom. Its built-in deep learning processing unit enables powerful on-device analytics, including the preinstalled AXIS Object Analytics application, which can detect, classify, track, and count humans, vehicles, and vehicle types. The camera is also compatible with AXIS Perimeter Defender for long-range thermal detection and classification, and supports the AV1 codec to reduce storage costs.
Rounding out the camera lineup is a new family of AI-powered bullet cameras spanning four models in the AXIS P1475/85-LE and AXIS P1487/88-LE series. Offering resolutions from 2MP to 8MP, these outdoor-ready cameras are built for demanding environments, carrying IK10, IP66, IP67, and NEMA 4X ratings, and handling extreme temperatures with ease. The AXIS P1488-LE stands out with a large 1/1.2" sensor engineered for consistent performance in low-light conditions, and all four models feature OptimizedIR for surveillance in complete darkness at distances up to 50 meters. Like the bispectral PTZ, these cameras come with AXIS Object Analytics preinstalled and leverage Axis Zipstream technology, supporting AV1, H.264, and H.265, to significantly reduce bandwidth and storage requirements without sacrificing image quality. All new cameras also include Axis Edge Vault, a hardware-based cybersecurity platform that provides FIPS 140-3 Level 3 certified secure key storage and operations.
Expanding beyond traditional camera-based surveillance, Axis has introduced two new radar models that bring a multilayered approach to perimeter detection. The AXIS D2122-VE offers a 180-degree horizontal field of detection and is designed for wall- or fence-line mounting, capable of recognizing humans at distances up to 140 meters across an area of 20,000 square meters. Its counterpart, the AXIS D2123-VE, delivers an impressive 270-degree field of detection covering up to 30,000 square meters, making it ideal for pole or corner mounting. Both radars use unique box-shaped detection and recognition zones to simplify coverage planning, and they can operate as standalone devices or integrate directly with select ARTPEC-9 PTZ cameras via edge-to-edge radar pairing. This integration enables radar-video fusion technology, combining radar and video analytics to minimize false alarms. With double-knock verification available, both the radar and video analytics must independently confirm a detection before triggering an event, resulting in more accurate, data-enriched decision-making for security teams. When paired with a PTZ camera, only one IP address and one VMS license are needed to manage the full setup.
Completing the new portfolio is the AXIS D6310 Air Quality Sensor, a standalone device that extends Axis' capabilities well beyond video into environmental monitoring. Built on AXIS OS and an open platform, the D6310 detects a range of indoor air pollutants, including vaping and smoking, and can trigger automated responses when preset thresholds are exceeded. The device features a built-in speaker and microphone for two-way communication, preinstalled AXIS Audio Analytics for AI-based insights, PoE passthrough, and four multicolor LEDs for instant visual alerts. A PIR sensor adds presence detection capability, and real-time air quality data is accessible via a virtual stream in any web browser or VMS, with no additional licenses or processing fees required. For privacy-conscious deployments, both the microphone and audio analytics can be permanently disabled. The D6310 is IK08-rated and vandal-resistant, making it a reliable and flexible tool for organizations looking to monitor indoor environments and maintain compliance with vaping and smoking regulations.
The AXIS Q6411-LE, the bullet camera family, and the D6310 are all expected to be available through Axis distribution channels in Q4 2025, while the D2122/23-VE radars are slated for Q1 2026.
